Bix Museum is Looking for Docents in our New Museum!
The museum is nearing completion of our move! Throughout June and July, we are looking to train volunteers to help manage our front desk during open hours of the museum as we prepare to be fully open to the public this summer. The goal is to have the museum open for a grand opening, Bix7 Weekend in July. If you would like to help, email us at director@bixmuseum.org with what you are interested in doing and your availability, and we will get back to you with more details.
Volunteer
The Bix Beiderbecke Museum is looking for volunteers to help with keeping the museum open and assisting with events. We are looking for people who are fans of jazz, enjoy local history, or are students interested in gaining experience in museums and non-profits. No experience or technical skills are necessary, any training needed will be provided. Some examples of projects include tabling for the museum at partnered events, being present in the exhibit for special/extended hours, assisting with the Annual Bix Festival, and providing miscellaneous support for staff at other programming.
Join our Board of Directors
The Bix Beiderbecke Museum has openings on our board for people in the Quad Cities area who are passionate about Bix, jazz, or local history and have unique skills and talents that can benefit the organization.
Please contact us at contactbixmuseum@gmail.com for more information on how to volunteer or join our board.
Internships
The Bix Beiderbecke Museum is seeking Undergraduate/Graduate-level internships, independent study, and project opportunities for those interested in work in museums and non-profit institutions. The museum will work with the student to ensure they fulfill any degree or class requirements and that they have a unique learning experience that fulfills their goals. Some examples of experience include event planning, education/program development, collection handling, non-profit administration, and online/social media development. The museum is always flexible and interested in project recommendations from prospective interns.
Interested applicants should have a background in Music, History, Art History, Museum Studies, or any related field of study to the proposed projects. We also consider applicants from backgrounds outside related fields, if there is significant interest in gaining experience in museums or non-profit institutions.
